The Big Brum Boogie is on its way!

The Big Brum Boogie is on its way!

Are you aged 55+? Or aged 5-14? (Or maybe you have parents or children who are?)

Summer’s finally arrived. Longer days are here. You’re looking for something to liven up your weeks. Maybe you’re keen to try something new but not sure what. We have the thing for you.

It’s called Big Brum Boogie and Autin Dance Theatre is launching this new project on Saturday, June 12th. We are looking to (digitally) bring together older and younger folks in order to create a Dance & Movement routine. The best Dance & Movement routine ever created by non-dancers.

Why? To celebrate lockdown easing, give our fancy-footed participants a sense of excitement and connection and champion official health messaging.

We’ll all log on to Zoom together, warm up, have a natter, have a laugh, shake a leg and devise the routine.

You don’t have to be a dancer. You don’t have to mobile. This is for everyone in those age groups to get involved and add some sparkle to their week.

Funded by Birmingham City Council and Public Health England, the routine will be:

  • Fun
  • Light-hearted
  • Celebratory

And made with access needs front of mind.

Does this sound like something you might be interested in being involved with? Do you know others who would too?

There will be 18 sessions in total. You do not have to attend every one but you are more than welcome. Different dancers and performers will host the sessions, which will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 11am.

You can sign up to the different sessions via Eventbrite by clicking this link.

We want this to be for everyone, so will be running technical advice sessions on how to use Zoom and to answer any questions. If you feel less tech-savvy than you’d like, come along and you can take part and improve your technology confidence. Contact us for more information.
